Privacy

This site works without an account and asks nothing of you. Below is exactly what does happen when you visit it.

Who is responsible

This site is an independent information site run by Bernard Visscher. Questions about privacy can be emailed to koningsdag@debit.nl.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with Umami, on our own server. Umami sets no cookies and does not store your IP address. It turns it into an anonymous code that changes regularly, and only derives your country and region from it. So we see how many people view a page, not who they are.

We also count a few actions: how often a map is loaded or used, and clicks on partner links. For one in five visitors we also measure how fast the page loads. This happens without cookies and without us being able to recognise you. Legal basis: legitimate interest, to improve the site.

Ads from Google

Some pages show ads from Google AdSense. On your first visit, Google asks for your consent. If you give it, Google may use cookies to show ads that match your interests. If you don’t, Google only shows limited ads, without cookies for personalised advertising.

You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Google is itself responsible for what it does with this data: see how Google uses data on partner sites. Legal basis: your consent.

There are no ads on the Royal House page or on the sources and privacy pages.

Some links to hotels, attractions or shops are partner links. They are marked Partner. If you buy or book something through such a link, we may receive a commission; you pay nothing extra. After a click you are on the partner’s site, where their terms and privacy policy apply. The partner may then set a cookie to attribute the sale to us.

Map

The map background comes from PDOK, run by the Dutch Land Registry (Kadaster). To show the map, your browser fetches map tiles from PDOK’s servers, which see your IP address to do so. See the Kadaster privacy statement (in Dutch). The map only loads when you scroll to it.

Web server

Like any web server, ours receives technical data such as your IP address, the time and the page requested. We only use this to investigate faults and abuse, and keep it no longer than necessary.

Your rights

You have the right to ask which data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because we cannot recognise you, we usually have nothing we can link to you. If you disagree with how we handle data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If something changes, such as a new partner, we update this page. The date at the bottom shows when that last happened.
